Yingde Gases’ New Large-Scale Air Separation Project Commissioned


On November 8, 2024, Yingde Gases' new air separation unit (ASU) in Huai’an, Jiangsu, with capacity of 48,200Nm³/h produced qualified oxygen and nitrogen gas products recently. The products were successfully integrated into the customer's pipeline network. This is another ASU independently designedmanufactured and constructed by Yingde Engineering, a subsidiary of Yingde Gases, which has been further upgraded and expanded on the basis of the original unit to provide a stable and reliable gas supply for Huaigang Special Steel.

This ASU upgrade demonstrates Yingde Gases’ multi-product line production capacity. Having upgraded from the existing unit, the new ASU can produce additional products such as high-purity oxygen, crude krypton-xenon, crude neon-helium and other rare gas products, and increase the output of medical oxygen and food nitrogen. Besides diversifying Yingde Gases' product range, it also provides strong support for multiple industries such as the medical and healthcare, new materials, food, energy, environmental protection and aerospace sectors, to create value continuously in many key areas of the national economy.

To ensure a successful trial run for the ASU to meet production standards in a one-time output, Yingde Engineering implemented pre-planning measures and strict control of safety and quality. Backed by extensive project management and innovative technologies, Yingde Engineering ensured  efficient and high-quality execution of the project.

While this project’s main cold box system features a compact structure, the internal equipment is large and complex, presenting challenges posed by numerous project installations and equipment, large pipe diameters, and long cable lay length. As such, Yingde Engineering continuously optimized their construction management plans of each contractor, tweaking the site entry sequence of equipment and materials, ensuring the reasonable cross-operational coordination of various disciplines, improving soilless construction management measures, and comprehensively implementing the first model engineering project. Yingde Engineering employed an intelligent digital system to conduct real-time, comprehensive monitoring during the construction phase. The project successfully achieved 0 safety and quality accidents, 99.6% passing rate of quality acceptance, 98.5% passing rate of welding.

Equipped with independent design and engineering capabilities, Yingde Engineering has successfully commenced operations for over 50 large air separation units with capacity over 60,000 Nm3/h, providing customers with turnkey design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, engineering management and project consulting services for air separation equipment, cryogenic equipment, green hydrogen equipment and water-coal slurry gasification equipment. Furthermore, Yingde Engineering will continue to explore new areas of air separation technology while providing low-energy consumption design and highly reliable products that meet customers’ needs. Yingde Engineering also aims to promote intelligent engineering systems, continuously improve construction management standards and engineering quality, and advance the green and sustainable development of industrial gases.
